Michael Goettee

Acrylic on Canvas, Mixed Media, Sculpture

Michael received bachelors’ degrees in both advertising and art from the University of Florida. He was a staff artist for the Atlanta Journal & Constitution for 8 years, magazine art director for two publishing companies over the next 10 years, and the marketing designer for Morris Visitor Publications. Today, Michael is full-time fine artist devoting all of his time to painting and sculpture.

Fine art credits include numerous commissions, one-man shows and purchases by the Booth Western Art Museum, Columbus Museum of Art, Hyatt Regency Hotel in Cologne, Germany and Xavier Roberts (creator of the Cabbage Patch Dolls). “Everyone is creative whether they’re painters, sculptors or CPAs. Our self-expression is how we establish ourselves as individuals. Yet we all drink from the same deep well of ideas. Some sip. Some gulp. Some scoop it out in buckets and share it. I’m in that last group. That’s an artist. Some of my art involves popular culture or other themes that may take a light approach. Currently, my visits to the American Southwest inspire me to reflect my experience of both the overwhelmingly beautiful landscapes and the varied cultures. Thunderclouds and red rocks, cowboys, Native American and Hispanic cultures. All speak to me and it’s heard in that silent, deep place from which I fill my bucket.”
